Welcome aboard the USS Ticonderoga!

Senior Ship for Task Group 72-A

Winner of the Silver Unit of Merit Award for Task Force 72 - April 2013

The USS Ticonderoga is currently in orbit around the planet Caesarea Nova.

Almost fifteen years after the end of the Dominion Wars and the Federation is still reeling.

Gone are the days when Starfleet could roam the stars with the simple and overwhelming goals of exploration. Now every corner they turn simply seems to bring them face to face with a new enemy. And even her old allies are beginning to turn. The Klingons, once happy to bridge a relative peace with the Federation, seem ready to gear up for conquest in the wake of the Hobus V incident. The Romulans and Remans, still reeling over the loss of their homeworlds, have fallen into anarchy and civil war. Even the Cardassians, whose last-minute defection ultimately lead to the Dominion's defeat, have little interest in protecting what tentative peace exists with their neighbours.

The Federation stands alone.

But in the face of adversity, Starfleet is bound and determined to hold true to her founding principles. Sending ship after ship out into the endless black, each with the same timeless mission:

To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations and to boldly go where no one has gone before.

The USS Ticonderoga is one of the newest line of Vikrant-class Carriers built following the end of the Dominion War to secure Federation space against attack while still serving peacetime functions such as exploration, diplomacy and border patrol. Now a part of the prestigious and front-line branch of Starfleet, Obsidian Fleet, she stands ready to bring to bear some of the most advanced technology the Federation has to offer. Placed under the command of Captain Hitoshi Kaneda, formerly of the USS Portland, she sits in wait for her first real tour of duty.

The USS Ticonderoga is a proud member of Obsidian Fleet, Task Force 72: The Peacekeepers, Task Group 1: The Grey Wolves.

I'll be heading off in about half an hour and won't be back around until, most likely, late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, so until then I leave you in the capable hands of Mr John Collins, our XO. I don't anticipate any world-breaking disasters occuring between now and then, but in the event that something does happen, John has been a CO in the past and should be able to deal with them.

See you guys next week!

» Silver Unit of Merit Award

Posted on Wednesday May 22nd, 2013 @ 7:53pm by Captain Hitoshi Kaneda in General News

The Unit of Merit awards for last month were just announced and we won a Silver Award! That means that of the 21 sims in our Task Force, we were deemed to be the best for the month of April, despite only having the ship for a week! Though to be fair, that week you guys put on a herculean effort and knocked out an excellent number of posts, almost meeting the OF monthly quota of 2 posts per person per month in a quarter of the time that some of the other sims did. So well done!

This award was, of course, made possible by our tireless XO, Mr John Collins. Without his dedicated assistance, it would have been simply impossible for us to have got everything set up as quickly as we did to allow you guys to get writing as quickly as you did. So big thanks to him, and indeed big thanks to all of you. You guys rock.

Next month, we aim for the Gold!

» Senior Ship for Task Group 72-A

Posted on Wednesday May 15th, 2013 @ 11:05am by Captain Hitoshi Kaneda in General News

As of yesterday the USS Ticonderoga is now the Senior Ship for Obsidian Fleet's Task Group 72-A. For me, that means a little bit of extra work helping out our Task Group CO and a little bit more power and responsibility in the Task Force. For you guys, all it means is that you need to keep being your shiny selves and help make this sim an example that the rest of the Task Group can look up to.

If you want to get more involved and find out how you can help out, feel free to PM me or John. We're always willing to accept an extra pair of hands working on things like recruitment.

Thanks guys,

» More New Hotness

Just thought I'd let everyone know that we've now actually now got two brand spanking new skins for the site, not just one. The red and white Ticonderoga skin is labeled as 'Frontier-Ticon' and the new one is called 'lcars_nova' and is base on the old LCARS skin for SMS.

I actually commissioned this one first, but because the guy took a long time to get back to me I went ahead and commissioned a second one from the Endeavor for Simplicity guys. Guess that means you guys have a choice, at least. Sexy no.1 or Sexy no.2. I'll be leaving Sexy no.1 as the default skin for now, and let you guys go and check out the LCARS one at your own leisure.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that thanks to some amazing guys over at 'Endeavor for Simplicity' (http://borg0861.com/) we have a sexy new skin to go with our sexy new ship!

To view the skin, either log out (I've set it to the default one) or go to the 'Site Options' tab under the 'User' heading on your control panel and change it there.

And a big 'thank you' to John for putting it on for me, as well. I'm not great with this Nova malarkey.

Trouble was afoot. Hitoshi Kaneda was not a confrontational man by nature, but there was one thing on the ship which he was incredibly protective of. His reputation as the master of strategy games.
